LINK UP,Diploma's work, 2002
My diploma work was about fixing up rejected objects. I collected broken tea cups and plates at the flea market and realised different repairs on them. The action of repairing is positive and stimulating because it is give a new life to an object. It is a healing process. I took simple elements used for dressmaking or craft making. For instance, I used mastic, glu, zip fasteners and magnets to put the damaged pieces back together.
This is a way to give a new value to those objects, symbols of our society which has a tendency to depreciate and forget ancient human crafts and replaced them with mass production.
